Empress Mills is the oldest and the largest composite textile mill the country has ever had. It was set up in 1877 by Sir Jamsetji Tata as the ‘The Central India Spinning Weaving and Manufacturing Company, Empress Mills’. In 1986, MSTC took over the mill after the Tatas threw up their hands.
